Timex Group B.V. is one of the best-known American watch companies. Timex’s U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico.

The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut’s Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the “Switzerland of America.” Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey’s hands pointing the time.

During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through “torture tests,” such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.” With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches.

The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality.

One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo® lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.

Tissot Touch broke after 2 1/2 years
Great watch but for a list price of $900 you would expect it to last for more then 2 1/2 years. The whole multi function including display just stopped working one day. And I have been treating it like a precious baby, no diving, no swimming, not even bringing it to the beach. Believing it was only a battery replacement I sent it off to Tissot, but NO. Tissot have quoted me a cost of repair (replacement of: multi function/movement exchange) for $400!!!! 6 months after warranty expiry.

The best watch I ever bought
Firstly, I am not a watch connoiseur. Far from it, I have been known to wear cheap, durable watches from Casio or even Timex if need served it. Neither makes bad watches. However, with the new T-Touch Tissot has certainly outdone itself. It is every man’s secret wish toy, and it’s stylish to boot.

So why should anyone consider plunking down money on this extravagant piece? Where do I begin?:

Firstly, it has an extremely ergonomic design, with nice clean lines and a finely polished Titanium exterior.
It is sturdy to the point of fault, resisting more wear and tear than you’d think possible. It was, after all, designed with the idea of outdoor use in mind.
But the most impressive feature of this watch is, of course, the touch screen that allows a myriad of functions with the simple pulse and touch of your finger. You can navigate through an alarm function, a compass, barometer and even altimeter with the greatest of ease and functionality.

In short, the design of this watch straddles extreme functionality and beautiful design with the greatest of ease, making this watch covetible and useful by both people who wish to make a bold statement about their style as well as people who want a watch that is functional with additional bells and whistles but won’t die at the slightest tap. This is the perfect watch for any man.

excellent product, fast delivery
I bought the Tissot T-Touch from Amazon merchant Kenmar Watches. The watch arrived in Ireland from the US in 3 days which was very impressive. Tissot’s presentation box is very nice and the watch also came with an additional 150th anniversary book on the history of Tissot. Well appreciated by a hard core watch collector like myself. I must confess that I currently have a Zenith Rainbow, an Omega SeaMaster, a Seiko Kinetic, a Citizen AquaLand and Mares Nemo in a collection which is tipped heavily in favour of dive watches. The chunky titanium styling of the T-Touch is in keeping with the rest of my horological wardrobe and is much appreciated. As is the light weight of my Titanium version. The overall finishing is excellent with a sapphire crystal of genuine quality , a comfortable and elegant bracelet and the polished titanium case. As quartz goes this is extremely accurate and is currently only 2 seconds slow since I got it a month ago. The carbon fibre dial is well finished and is a nice touch. The lumed markers are thin but clearly visible at night.

The advanced features such as compass, barometer, thermometer and altimeter are all accurate within reasonable tolerances. However, the thermometer is affected by body temperature (as expected) and the altimeter calculates based on atmospheric pressure so it must be calibrated prior to use from a known altitude. With correct calibration it works fine. I’m not sure I’ll use the features all that much but they are functional and this watch is not a toy. The only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars is the annoying lack of electroluminescent lighting for the LCD display which render the features useless at night. Water resistance of only 30 metres is less than ideal but hey, it’s not like I lack a watch I can wear while snorkeling. If you need a backlight get the solid titanium protrek from Japan. Otherwise get the Tissot, it’s very stylish.

Excellent Watch but….
I just bought this watch for my girlfriend, on the description it says, Band material: stainless-steel , BUT it is white plastic, I bought it as a stanless-steel watch but is not even 60 % steel… all white parts on the picture are plastic…. not steel and the only steel on the brand are the two small pieces on the picture a kind of decoration

Great little watch
this is a great watch with the features I was looking for. It came with an instruction booklet for a different watch, but I was able to find the correct one online. I like the big buttons on the sides–easy to push, but don’t get pushed accidentally! I use the timer and the stopwatch quite often and it’s easy to use. Nice big numbers too.

Great for small wrists!!!
I have tiny wrists and regular sports watches just weigh them down. This watch is 1/2 the size of my old one. I absolutely love it!! It doesn’t have a backlight, but i didn’t use that option much on my other watch anyway. Great watch that is perfect for small wrists!

Good value. loud ticking
I had wanted to purchase this watch for 6 month prior to purchase. Amazon has one of the best prices available. Upon arrival it did not disappoint in looks. Great looking watch, and comfortable for people like myself that do not like wearing watches very much

Cons:
- On bigger wrists the latch with close on one of the bottom holes. Also, the additional leather holder for the extra strap would not stay as I did not have much extra strap after the loop, I cut this piece off

- Pretty loud second had in certain areas. I find this incredibly annoying

- Not date

- No light (hour and minutes illuminate)

Gorgeous, sleek watch!
I bought this for my fiance for Christmas – it’s beautiful. So much better looking than the picture conveys. It’s slim, sleek yet still has a date window. So far, it’s kept great time. He has no complaints and receives compliments at least weekly! AND what a great value!

Excellent Deal!
I got this watch six years ago, when I was working at Fort Knox, Kentucky. I’m in the military, its dial shows the 24 hours and even better, It works just like the first day I bought it. It doesn’t have a date window, but maybe “simple things are better things” . I recommend it at a 100%.

Good watch for a nursing student
We were required to get a analogue watch for our nursing program, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted a watch that would last. Well this watch filled this need! After nearly 3 months of constant wear the watch continues to keep perfect time. The band is a bit discolored, is now more of a yellowish gold, but remains functional. If you need an inexpensive watch I would suggest this one, it worked wonderfully for me!

Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through “torture tests,” such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.” With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches.

The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality.

One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo® lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.

Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. The Basic Coverage:
This TIMEX Watch (but not any battery, crystal, band, or strap) is warranted to the owner for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of purchase against defects in manufacture by Timex Corporation – not by the dealer from whom the watch was purchased.

What Timex Will Do:
If this watch develops such a defect within the one year period, it will be repaired (i.e. a new or thoroughly reconditioned and inspected module will be installed or replaced and a watch of equal value and similar appearance will be supplied) at our option, provided it is returned with a $7.00 check or money order to cover costs of postage, handling, and service, and you provide proof of purchase and date of purchase.

This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover:

When your battery is depleted, have it replaced promptly. The particular type of battery is indicated on your caseback.
